The One Where We Go To The Apple Orchard
Yesterday my oldest daughter’s school had a field trip to an apple orchard. One of the things I love about being a SAHM is that I got to take the younger two kiddos along as well. It turned out be a beautiful fall day here in Michigan. I love this time of year!
However, there was something important missing from the trip. Apples! The apple trees were completely bare. Last year when we visited an orchard the trees were covered in apples. This year, not one apple could be seen on the trees. Instead of getting to pick a bag of apples the kids were able to pick one apple out of a bulk bin of apples that had been shipped in from the west side of the state. This year much of the Michigan apple crop was destroyed by early unseasonable warm weather followed by a hard frost.
Speaking of the west side of the state. I will be heading to Grand Rapids tomorrow for Taste of Michigan. Rachel and Liz each wrote great posts about this event which you can read here and here. Make sure you follow me on Twitter and Instagram to get updates during the event. I will also do a recap post sometime next week.
For now I leave you with some pictures from our time at the apple orchard where we had a great time in spite of the missing apples.
Have a great weekend everyone. If you have never been to Michigan in the fall, put it on your bucket list. It is truly beautiful here right now.
