What I Ate Wednesday

I’m so glad to be back at the What I Ate Wednesday party!  The past couple weeks I just have not been able to remember to take pics of my eats throughout the day.  Well, yesterday I did a pretty good job!

Here’s what my day looked like.

Little Man woke me up around 6:30. I fed him and laid him back down, hoping he would go back to sleep so I could have some alone time.  No luck.  He’s been getting up earlier lately.  So he played around on the floor while I read my devotional and had prayer.  By this time the rest of the gang was starting to get up so I was getting breakfast and packing a lunch for hubby.  I ate a bowl of Uncle Sam cereal with banana and berries and some almond milk.  Very yummy!

After breakfast I did kitchen clean-up and worked on some blog stuff while the girls watched Curious George and Little Man napped.  We also did Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Meltdown. A killer yoga workout.  Not the slow and relaxing yoga you might be used to!

Snack was a couple lemon chia balls via Gina via Katie.  Mine turned out a little dry.  That didn’t stop me from eating them though.

After snack the girls played ‘grocery store’ while I finished up some laundry and did a little cleaning and laundry.  Fed Little Man.  Other miscellaneous things.

Lunch was PB&J for the kiddos and then off to nap!  All 3 naps actually were at the same time for a little while so I caught up on some blog reading while eating my lunch.  A portobello panini! I was reading Jenn’s post about adding an extra cup of veggies while I was eating my lunch so I added some extra carrot sticks!

While the kids were napping I started dinner in the slow-cooker.  I made some chili with black beans, bulgur burger crumbles, crushed tomatoes, and lots of seasonings.

After the kids got up from nap we had a snack.  I made this delicious smoothie again from Gina via Katie.  It was so good I made another this morning!  I used decaf coffee.

After snack we went outside to play for the rest of the afternoon.  We really love this neighborhood we live in.  There are tons of kids that are often out playing.  I worked on some weeding while the kiddos were playing.  Little Man was content to hang out the stroller for awhile before he got hungry and ready for a nap so I took him inside. I went back outside and the kids migrated down a couple houses to play with the kids there.  There is a group of 3 families of kids and they tend to migrate between the 3 houses.

Dinner was the chili I described above but forgot to take a picture of.  It looked a lot like this though.  We had a salad also.

Dinner was a little later than usual because we got busy chatting with the neighbors while the kids were playing.  Thank goodness I had dinner in the slow cooker!

After dinner was the clean-up, get ready for bed routine.

After the kids were in bed I did some stuff on the internet, took a shower (cuz I hadn’t managed one yet that day!), and then relaxed on the couch with hubby.  We always watch Justified on Tuesday nights. Oh, and snacked on some chips and salsa.

And there you have an exciting day here at the Thrifty Veggie Mama household!

    • I love rye bread too!

  3. I love the ‘what my day looked like’ posts! Yours gives me hope that a day will come when my daughter is less needy… I can get very little done when she’s awake, which is all but an hour or two nap in the afternoon. :) We make bulghur burgers too, I’ll have to check yours out. Happy Easter!
