Vegan Oatmeal Sausage Patties

Every Sunday morning we have pancakes.  And we usually have breakfast for dinner once a week.  My husband loves the Morningstar Farms veggie sausages and would like to eat them at every breakfast.  But they are expensive!  I am always looking for whole foods replacement for the processed veggie food we usually eat so was excited to see these sausage patties using oats!  They are really easy to make and freeze really well.  The flavor is great and really does remind you of sausage patties.

Oatmeal Sausage Patties

From Give Them Something Better

This recipe makes plenty to freeze for later!

3 1/2 c water
1/4 c Bragg’s liquid aminos
1/4 c nutritional yeast
2 T oil
2 T onion powder
1 T maple syrup
1 T dried sage
1 T Italian seasoning
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
3 1/2 c oats (I used old fashioned but I think next time I will pulse them in the food processor a bit so they aren’t quite so big)
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Place all the ingredients except the oats in a medium saucepan and bring to boil.
  3. Add the oats.  Remove from the heat.
  4. Let sit 5 min.
  5. Form into patties and place on cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 30 minutes, flipping half way through.

Freeze the leftovers.  Reheat in skillet until heated through.

  1. I am making these this week! I was planning on doing a breakfast-for-dinner night and then you posted this recipe and I knew I needed to try it. I think I’ll double it so I can freeze some for breakfast-breakfast. :)

    • They freeze and reheat really well! Hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

  2. be still my vegan heart! these sound WONDERFUL! can’t wait to try ‘em! thank you for sharing!

    • We love them and hope you do too! Thanks for checking them out.

  3. These patties sound like a wonderful idea…I’m not vegan, but I think I’m going to have to give these a try. But I’ll have to research those ‘Bragg’s liquid aminos’

    • You could use low sodium soy sauce instead if you can’t find the Bragg’s but it is a good soy sauce alternative.

  4. These sausages were delicious and relatively easy – my family loved them! Had a wonderful meal with the sausages and tofu mixed with seasonings, mushrooms, onions, and cilantro (like scrambled eggs with veggies) and sliced avocado with a little lemon juice and sea salt. Absolutely delightful!

    • So glad you liked them! Sounds like a wonderful meal. Thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed the sausage.
